George Wright — 3 Books 1972, Huddersfield, Epsom, Covent Garden
36 pages
printed in the UK
staple bound
14cm x 20cm
Three titles by George Wright — work made in 1972. Available at a reduced price when purchased together using the drop down menu.
Covent Garden, London 1972
Covent Garden during a time of unease. There were plans for a radical redevelopment, which would have destroyed Covent Garden as we know it. Thankfully, plans changed and Covent Garden was protected.
The Epsom Derby 1972
The Epsom Derby began in 1780 and is one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. This series focuses on the people and environment of the race. Fashion, humour and a bit of tic-tac.
Huddersfield & Holmfirth 1972
I was a student at Wimbledon School of Art. John Benton Harris was my tutor. John had been commissioned by the Arts Council of Great Britain, along with Chris Killip, to photograph Huddersfield for the ‘Two Views’ project (which also included Koudelka, Ian Berry, Colin Curwood, Ron McCormick, Christine Pearcey and Kevin Keegan) and suggested that I accompany him on the first of his visits. A photograph of John in action appears on page 21.
Also by George Wright:
Brick Lane 1985
New York 1978
