Born in Prague 1944, Markéta has a degree in the Sociology of Culture from Charles University, Prague 1967, her thesis was around traditional forms of religion in Slovakia accompanied with photographs of pilgrims. From 1967–1969 she studied photography at FAMU, Prague, and since 1968 has worked as a freelance photographer with a lifelong theme of children.
In 1976 Markéta Luskačová made this body of work for Magnum Distribution — the same year she was a Magnum Nominee. The work was never used, never published, and remained unseen. With thanks to Tracy Marshall for bringing my attention to this work.
